It is true to say if you keep doing the same thing; you will get the same result. If you are getting poor results, it usually indicates a lack of business planning or resources to undertake a proper review of your practice to decide what things are going well and what is causing problems.  Business planning is a specialist function and given that Lawyers are trained in the law which is built on precedent, they are often ill-equipped to imagine a set of circumstances in the future and change their focus to meet them.
